Vision — Discernment — Calling — These words describe what congregations need to guide their journey as a Christian faith community. We don’t do traditional “Strategic Planning” like congregations used to do. Instead, we focus on spiritually based visioning processes which lead to a Strategic Ministry Plan.
The following are examples of Visioning Consulting Processes we provide. After learning your needs, we design a process particular to your congregation or denomination.
Vision ID 180
Congregations often choose Vision ID 180 when they want an in depth look at who they are, along with a visioning process to discern their calling for the future.
Vision — God’s particular calling for a particular congregation, situated at a particular place and time. The Vision is a description of what the congregation will be doing as they live out their calling as God’s church in the next three years.
ID – Vision ID 180 is a substantive process for identifying the Vision of a congregation.
180 – Number of days (6 months)
Vision ID 180 progresses through four stages:
- Spiritual Preparation
- Identity Clarification
- Vision Questing
- Committing — Celebrating — Implementing
Vision ID 40
Congregations often choose Vision ID 40 when they have a sense of who they are and what they are about, yet they need to focus on major ministry initiatives for the next one to two years.
Vision – God’s particular calling for a particular congregation, situated at a particular place and time. The Vision is a description of what the congregation will be doing as they live out their calling as God’s church in the next one to two years.
ID – Identifying the Vision (God’s calling)

Vision Infuzion
After the vision is discerned, how does a congregation integrate this vision throughout their ministry teams, committees, lay leadership team, and church staff? Often teams or task forces guide particular ministries of the church. We work with these teams to discern their Strategic Ministry Plan, which is based on the larger congregation’s Vision. Vision Infuzion is a process for infusing the congregation’s vision into the varied ministries of the church.
Visioning And Discernment Retreats
Sometimes church staffs and lay leaders prefer to engage us in a retreat setting for visioning and discernment. We facilitate these kinds of retreats on and off church campuses.
